Your Tanzania safari, built from scratch — around your dates, your pace, your interests, and your budget. Designed by a local team that has been doing this for over years.
A tailor-made Tanzania safari is not a standard package with a few options switched out. It is an itinerary built entirely from your requirements — your travel dates, your group composition, the wildlife you want to see, the pace at which you want to move, the accommodation level you are comfortable with, and the experiences that matter to you specifically. No two Nyakwardayo Expeditions tailor-made itineraries are the same. Every one starts as a blank page.
This matters because Tanzania is an enormous and varied country. The difference between a safari that puts you at the right place at the right time — Ndutu in February for the wildebeest calving, the northern Serengeti in August for the river crossings, Tarangire in September for the elephant congregation — and one that routes you through the same parks on a generic fixed schedule is vast. A tailor-made safari gives us the freedom to place you exactly where the best game viewing is for your specific travel window, and to structure each day around what you are there to experience.
Nyakwardayo Expeditions has been designing private Tanzania safari itineraries for over 15 years from our base in Arusha. We work directly with the parks, the lodges, and the communities — not through subcontractors or intermediaries. When you submit an enquiry, you are speaking to the people who will actually plan, book, and manage your trip.
Submit the safari builder form below — or email us directly. Tell us your travel dates, group size, the experiences that interest you most (wildlife, cultural immersion, photography, adventure, relaxation), your preferred accommodation style, and your budget range. The more detail you share, the more precisely we can design your itinerary. There is no cost at this stage and absolutely no obligation to proceed.
Our Arusha team reviews your requirements and designs a day-by-day tailor-made itinerary — including recommended parks, suggested accommodation options at your tier, a route map, and a full itemised cost breakdown covering park fees, accommodation, guide, vehicle, and transfers. We typically present two or three accommodation variants so you can compare and select. Everything is explained — nothing is hidden in a total figure.
You review the itinerary and tell us what you want to change. Add a park. Swap a lodge. Extend a night in the Serengeti. Include a Maasai village visit. Upgrade accommodation on one night and budget on another. Every revision is made promptly and free of charge. Most tailor-made itineraries are finalised within 2–5 rounds of feedback. Complex multi-component journeys may take 7–10 days of collaborative planning, and we consider that time well spent.
When the itinerary is finalised, a 30% deposit confirms your accommodation, guide, and vehicle bookings. The balance is due 60 days before your departure. We accept USD/GBP/EUR bank transfer, Flutterwave, and Pesapal. Your deposit is held under our transparent fund protection policy — solo travellers in particular can book with confidence knowing funds are not released until your trip begins. You receive a full booking confirmation pack including permits, guide contact details, a detailed packing list, and pre-departure briefing notes.
Your private guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport with a name board and transfers you directly to your first destination. From this moment, your guide is your dedicated companion for the duration of the safari — managing the vehicle, leading game drives, explaining wildlife and ecology, facilitating cultural visits, and monitoring your wellbeing. Our Arusha operations team remains available 24 hours a day for any issue that arises during your trip.
A tailor-made Tanzania safari is a privately designed itinerary built entirely around your specific travel dates, group, interests, pace, and budget — not a fixed group departure with a pre-set schedule. You choose the parks, the duration, the accommodation tier, and the activities. No two Nyakwardayo Expeditions tailor-made safaris are the same. Every one starts as a blank page and is designed directly from your brief.
A private tailor-made safari costs more per person than a large shared group tour, because the vehicle and guide are not split across 8–12 people. However, the comparison is not straightforward: you control every aspect of the experience, and for groups of two or more the price differential narrows considerably. Solo travellers pay a single-traveller rate which we keep as competitive as possible through established lodge rate agreements built over 15+ years of operation. The value is in having Tanzania entirely to yourself.
After your enquiry, we deliver a fully detailed day-by-day itinerary and itemised quote within 24 hours. Most itineraries are finalised in 2–5 revision rounds. Complex multi-component journeys (Kilimanjaro + safari + Zanzibar, or accessibility-specific itineraries) may take 5–10 days to get exactly right — and we consider that planning time genuinely important, not a delay.
Completely. You can specify any combination of Tanzania's parks — Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Arusha, Ruaha, Nyerere, Mahale, Katavi, or Gombe. We will advise on the optimal combination and routing for your travel dates and interests. If you are uncertain, we will recommend based on what you tell us you want to see and experience.
The minimum we recommend for a meaningful Northern Circuit safari is 5 days, covering Tarangire, the Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater. Seven days is our most popular starting point for first-time visitors. The Great Migration or Southern Circuit parks warrant 10–14 days. Kilimanjaro combinations require a minimum of 12 days total.
Large online agencies and international safari operators typically subcontract their Tanzania itineraries to local ground operators while adding their own margin. Your enquiry is handled by a sales team that has never been to Tanzania. With Nyakwardayo Expeditions, the team designing your itinerary is physically in Arusha — the same team that books your lodges, briefs your guide, and monitors your trip in real time. There are no intermediaries. When something changes on the ground, we know immediately and act directly.
Yes — and this is one of our strongest areas. Our Maasai community partnerships are genuine, long-term relationships built over years of working alongside communities adjacent to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We offer guided village tours, hands-on beadwork workshops, pastoral tradition introductions, and cultural storytelling sessions with your guide. These can be woven into any itinerary that passes through the Ngorongoro Highlands. Cultural visits are priced transparently and a portion of every visit fee goes directly to the community.
For peak season (June–October) and Christmas/New Year, book 9–12 months in advance — premium lodges sell out well before these windows. For January–February (calving season), 4–6 months is generally sufficient. We begin the planning process immediately after your enquiry at no charge, and hold lodge availability checks during the consultation before any deposit is required.
