Day to day itinerary

The adventure begins with a pickup from your private driver at Zanzibar International Airport. Zanzibar’s adventure begins with a warm welcome at the airport. Nungwi, famous for its powdery white sands and crystal-clear waters, is an hour’s drive from the airport. It is on Zanzibar’s northern tip. After checking into Z Hotel, a chic midrange lodge, spend the afternoon unwinding on the beach, swimming in the Indian Ocean, or sipping cocktails at the hotel’s beachfront bar. Nungwi is well known for its stunning beaches, and as the sun sets, enjoy the delightful welcome dinner featuring fresh seafood and Zanzibari spices. Sleep in style while lulled by the sound of waves, ready for tomorrow's adventures.

Accommodation: Z Hotel or similar.

Join us on an exciting day trip to Mnemba Atoll, one of Zanzibar’s most impressive marine parks. It has a short boat trip from Nungwi. After enjoying a leisurely breakfast by the ocean, set off for Mnemba Atoll. This coral reef is teeming with life, including colorful corals, tropical fish, rays, sea turtles, and dolphins. An experienced guide will provide snorkeling gear for the group and share safety tips. Spend the morning exploring the shallows where the water is clear and warm. Afterward, head back to the Z Hotel for lunch. Your beachside lunch will include freshly grilled fish and an assortment of tropical fruits. You’re free to spend the day however you please; you can take a dip in the hotel swimming pool, enjoy a spa treatment, walk on the beach on Nungwi’s serene shores, or relax some more. For dinner, you can learn about Taarab music while enjoying your meal. As always, you’re free to choose how much of the performance you wish to listen to.

Accommodation: Stay at Z Hotel and similar.

After breakfast, set out for a tour in Stone Town, the historic center of Zanzibar, which is an hour’s drive from Nungwi. Check into a midrange hotel centrally located, which features colonial and Swahili architecture. Begin a private guided tour of the town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its unique maze-like streets. Don’t miss the bustling spice and fresh produce market. Other sights include the House of Wonders, Old Fort, and Darajani Market, where spices and fresh produce are sold. Hear about Zanzibar’s part in the spice and slave trades, and stop by Mercury’s birthplace, Freddie, which is a nod to the island’s modern pop culture legacy. For lunch, enjoy it at a rooftop restaurant with great views of the town and harbor. Later in the afternoon, visit local shops to buy Zanzibari coffee and souvenirs as well as hand-carved doors. For dinner, dine at a restaurant serving coconut curried prawns, one of the many Swahili foods you can try.

.

Accommodation: Emerson on Hurumzi or similar.

On your last day, have a hearty breakfast before going for a morning spice tour, which is a must-do while in Zanzibar. Go towards the local spice farm, which is 30 minutes from Stone Town, to learn something about the trade heritage of the island and its spices. Traverse through plantations while a local expert shares their culinary and medicinal uses, and enjoy hands-on experiences with cloves, vanilla, cardamom, and nutmeg. At the farm, savor the traditional Swahili lunch, which is freshly spiced. Later, spend some free time buying souvenirs in Stone Town or unwind at a waterfront café. Depart from Zanzibar International Airport in the afternoon. Remember the serene waters, colorful markets, and the melting pot of cultures that Zanzibar is famous for.
