Day to day itinerary

Your Tarangire & Serengeti Explorer safari starts off in Arusha, the gateway to the Northern Circuit of Tanzania. As soon as you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will receive a warm greeting from your guide who will take you to an Arusha midrange hotel about an hour’s drive from the airport. After checking in take some time to relax and prepare for the safari. For dinner, enjoy a delicious blend of Tanzanian and international cuisine and receive a detailed briefing of the trip from your guide. This covers the itinerary, private vehicle arrangements, and what to expect on this journey and there is plenty of time to clear all doubts. Retreat to your tastefully decorated room to ensure you are well rested for the adventure starting the next morning.

Leave Arusha for Tarangire National Park after breakfast. With a light meal box and water, climb aboard your private 4x4 vehicle, enjoy a two and a half hour drive through breathtaking rolling hills. Famous for its large elephant population as well as herds of giraffes, zebras and predators like lions or leopards, Tarangire with its iconic towers of the irresistible baobab trees, provides an astonishing introduction to your safari. Embark on a tailored afternoon game drive where your guide will elaborate about the different ecosystems in the park and highlight how the Tarangire River sustains its diverse wildlife. As the sun begins to set, head to Sangaiwe Tented Lodge where you get to relax at a midrange camp while refreshing your gaze towards the stunning view of Lake Burunge from your tent. Dinner will be served under the stars, later followed by a detailed briefing about planned tomorrow’s activities.

With your own vehicle, you have the freedom to check out the varied landscapes from wetlands to savannas. Whatever your goal is for the visit, be it photography or tracking certain animals, it will all be possible. Enjoy a bush breakfast while being dwarfed by massive baobab trees and take a mid-morning drive to explore new areas of the park. To end the day, enjoy a picnic lunch followed by more afternoon game drives. This includes visiting riverbeds to see hippos or bird-watching hotspots to glimpse colorful hornbills and lovebirds. After dinner around the fire at Sangaiwe Tented Lodge, relax, reflect, and write about the day’s magical wildlife experiences on your journal.

We hope you enjoyed breakfast. Now it is time to leave for the Serengeti National Park, driving conveniently in a 4x4 vehicle for four hours via Tarangire. Tanganyika Tours conveniently offers private vehicles for your enjoyment during the journey. Additionally, there is a Maasai village which offers insight into bead work and dances for a small fee that can be included. By early afternoon, we should reach the central region of Seronera and will go on a drive to view the unique features of the park. As you approach the parks sections, you will be able to marvel at the herds of wildebeests and zebras while resident predators such as lions or cheetahs can also be viewed. Your guide will explain in detail the migration patterns and ecosytems of the park. After the excursion, check in to Serengeti Kati Kati, a midrange tented camp with ensuite tents, safaristyle furnishings, and a genuine bush atmosphere. Later, we will enjoy gourmet dinner under the stars, followed by a briefing on the wonders of the Serengeti which you can retire to your tent after, lulled by wild sounds.
